Service overview

Roof Repairs in Nottinghamshire — what you actually get.

What it is

Targeted roof repairs across pitched and flat roofs: slipped or broken tiles and slates, ridge re-bedding and re-pointing, valley repair, lead flashing renewal, chimney repointing and flaunching, leak diagnosis, storm-damage rectification and emergency tarp-overs.

Who it's for

Anyone with a leak, missing tile, sagging ridge, damaged chimney, or storm-damaged roof. Also homeowners who want a proactive roof health check before selling, remortgaging or going into winter.

When you need it

The moment you spot water in the loft, a stain on a ceiling, or a tile in the garden. Roof issues compound fast — a small tile replacement today can become a far larger timber repair if left a winter.

Why it matters

Most 'mystery leaks' aren't a mystery — they're a flashing detail done badly five years ago. We diagnose properly: smoke-test, hose-test, lift-and-look. We don't seal a leak with mastic and call it fixed.

What happens if you wait

The real cost of leaving it.

A small leak is a fast-compounding problem. Water tracks along rafters, soaks insulation, ruins ceilings and rots timber long before you see a stain — and one stain usually means months of unseen damage.

Risks of leaving it

  • Saturated rafters lose structural integrity — replacement is 10x the cost of the original tile fix.
  • Wet insulation grows mould that vents into bedrooms below.
  • A single missing ridge tile in a storm can take a dozen more with it.
  • Failed lead at the chimney lets water run down inside the cavity, ruining plaster on every floor.
  • An unresolved leak voids storm-damage cover with most insurers.

Common mistakes we see

  • Spraying mastic or 'flashband' over the symptom without finding the source.
  • Hiring whoever knocks the door after a storm — door-knockers are rarely insured roofers.
  • Ignoring a slipped tile because 'the ceiling's still dry' — water finds another way every time.
  • Accepting a verbal quote for a roof you can't see from the ground.

Our process

How we deliver — step by step.

  1. 1

    Triage Call

Tell us what's happening — we'll tell you immediately whether it's emergency, urgent, or a planned-week fix. No salesperson, just a roofer.

  2. 2

    On-Site Inspection

Ladder up, on the roof, into the loft. We find the actual source — not the nearest convenient one — and photograph it for you.

  3. 3

    Written Quote

Even on small repairs, you get a price in writing before we start. No 'we'll sort it out at the end'.

  4. 4

    Repair Carried Out

Matching tiles, slates, lead and mortar — sourced to match what's already there, not whatever's in the depot.

  5. 5

    Test & Document

Where appropriate we hose-test the repair, photograph it complete, and email you the before-and-after.

What you get

The benefits — in plain English.

Stops compounding damage

Catching a leak early routinely saves four-figure sums on rafter, plasterboard and decoration repairs.

Often same-day emergency response, where possible

We carry tarps, tiles, lead and ladders. If we can get you watertight today, we will.

Honest diagnosis

Sometimes the answer is a small fix. Sometimes it's a full replacement. We'll always tell you straight.

Materials matched to the roof

Reclaimed slate, matching ridge tiles, correct lead code — repairs that look like they were always there.

Insurance-ready paperwork

Photos, written scope, itemised invoice — exactly what insurers need to process a storm-damage claim.

We stand behind our work

If the same defect returns shortly after a repair, we'll come back and take another look.

The detail that matters

Roof Repairs: materials, methods & specifications.

Most repairs fall into a handful of categories, and most are misdiagnosed by whoever quoted before us. Here's what we actually see:

Slipped or broken tiles & slates

Usually nail-sickness (galvanised nails failing after 40+ years) or storm damage. Often spotted as a single tile down — but if one's gone, others are loose.

Ridge & hip re-bedding

Old mortar ridges crack and lift. Modern fix is dry-fix ridge systems — mechanically clipped, ventilated, no mortar needed. A long-term fix on most roofs.

Lead flashings

The most common real source of 'mystery' leaks. Lead at chimneys, abutments and valleys cracks with thermal movement. Re-dressing in Code 4/5 lead, properly stepped and soakered, fixes it properly for the long term.

Chimney repairs

Repointing brickwork, re-flaunching pots, replacing cracked pots and cowls, lead apron and step-flashings. Chimneys cause more interior damp than any other single feature.

Valleys

Lead, GRP or open-lead valleys. We strip, line and re-form valleys with the correct fall and lap detailing.

Gutters, fascias & soffits

Often the actual cause of 'roof leaks'. We replace UPVC fascia/soffit/gutter runs and re-align cast iron where appropriate.

Storm damage

We're set up for fast emergency response — tarp-over to make safe, full repair quoted in writing, photographs for your insurer.

We repair pitched and flat roofs across Edwinstowe, Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Hucknall, Worksop and Nottingham. If you can describe what's happening over the phone, we can usually tell you what's wrong before we arrive.

FAQ

Honest answers, before you call.

How quickly can you come out for a roof leak?

+

Often same-day response where we can — we always try to get serious leaks made safe as quickly as we can, where possible. Routine inspections are usually within 48 hours, where possible.

How much does a typical roof repair cost?

+

Every job is priced individually and quoted in writing after a free inspection — get in touch for a quote.

Will you work on roofs you didn't install?

+

Yes — repairs are mostly other people's roofs. We're not trying to sell you a full replacement; if a repair is the right answer we'll quote a repair.

Do you handle insurance claims?

+

Routinely. We document the damage, scope the repair to insurer-standard, and liaise direct with loss adjusters where helpful.

What if you find more damage once you're up there?

+

We photograph it, price it transparently, and agree it with you before we touch it. The original quote stands unless you authorise extra work.

Can you do emergency tarp-overs out of hours?

+

Yes — call us. Out-of-hours emergency response is available across our service area when we have a crew free.

Do you stand behind small repairs?

+

Yes — if the same defect comes back shortly after we've been out, we'll return and take another look.

How long does a typical repair take?

+

Most domestic repairs are completed in a single visit of 1-4 hours. Larger jobs like full ridge replacement or chimney re-leading take 1-2 days.
