Service overview
Artificial Grass in Nottinghamshire — what you actually get.
What it is
Supply and installation of quality artificial grass for gardens, lawns and dog runs. Includes ground preparation, free-draining base, weed membrane, edging, infill where appropriate, and neat joining.
Who it's for
Homeowners tired of muddy lawns, families with dogs and kids, anyone whose garden gets too little sun for real grass, people with mobility issues who can't easily mow, and landlords wanting low-maintenance presentation between tenants.
When you need it
Year-round installs — artificial grass doesn't care about growing season. Spring/summer slots book up fastest.
Why it matters
Most failed artificial lawns fail because the base underneath wasn't done properly — they ripple, puddle and need lifting within a few years. We prepare the ground and lay a solid, free-draining base so the lawn sits flat, drains well and lasts.
What happens if you wait
The real cost of leaving it.
A bad artificial grass install looks brilliant for the first summer and embarrassing by the second. By year three, most are lifting at the edges, puddling in the middle, and growing weeds straight through the seams.
Risks of leaving it
- Inadequate base — grass ripples, edges lift, low spots puddle.
- No drainage planning — water pools, anaerobic stink develops, grass becomes unusable.
- Cheap weed membrane — weeds grow up through the grass within 12-18 months.
- Wrong infill or none at all — pile crushes flat in heavy-traffic areas.
- Visible seams — DIY-spec joining tape shows itself on the first sunny day.
Common mistakes we see
- Laying directly on existing lawn or thin sand — the underlying ground moves, the grass moves with it.
- Buying budget B-grade rolls without UV stabilisation — fades and matts within 2 summers.
- Skipping the perimeter edging — grass curls and lifts within months.
- Hiring a one-man-band who'll cut corners on the unseen 80% of the job.

What you get
The benefits — in plain English.
Long-lasting
A quality artificial lawn on a proper base lasts for many years before it needs replacing.
Looks real, all year
Multi-tone yarns, dead-thatch zones and variable pile heights — modern grass looks like a healthy lawn from any angle, not a tennis-court mat.
Zero mowing, watering or feeding
Brush quarterly. Hose off occasionally. That's it.
Drains properly
Free-draining base and perforated grass backing handle even heavy rain — no puddles, no muddy patches, no dog smell.
Pet and child friendly
Quality grass is non-toxic, soft underfoot, and free-draining for pet urine. Optional antimicrobial infill available.
Usable year-round
No muddy season. The garden's usable in January and August alike.

The short version
A good artificial lawn comes down to a few things done properly: clearing and preparing the ground, laying a solid, free-draining base, fitting quality grass over a weed membrane, joining it neatly, and securing the edges so it doesn't lift. Done this way you get a lawn that drains well, looks natural, and stays put — with no mowing, watering or feeding.

FAQ
Honest answers, before you call.
How much does artificial grass cost installed?
+
Every job is priced individually and quoted in writing after a free inspection — get in touch for a quote.
How long does installation take?
+
It depends on the size of the lawn and how much ground prep is needed — we'll share a schedule in writing before starting.
Will it look fake?
+
No — modern quality grass is multi-tone, variable pile height, and includes dead-thatch zones. Most people can't tell it's artificial until they touch it.
Is it safe for pets?
+
Yes — quality artificial grass is non-toxic, soft underfoot and free-draining, so it's pet-friendly. For pet areas we can use an infill that helps neutralise odours; just rinse occasionally with a hose.
Will it puddle when it rains?
+
Not if it's installed properly — the free-draining base lets water drain through the grass backing.
Does it get hot in summer?
+
It can be slightly warmer than real grass in direct sun on the hottest days. We don't recommend it in unshaded south-facing positions for areas where children will sit barefoot regularly. A quick rinse with a hose cools it instantly.
How do I maintain it?
+
Brush quarterly with a stiff brush to keep the pile upright. Hose off when needed. That's it. No mowing, no watering, no feeding, no scarifying.
What product warranty comes with the install?
+
The manufacturer's grass warranty (typically 8-10 years on colour and UV stability).
Can you install on a slope?
+
Yes — slopes up to about 1:5 are straightforward. Steeper slopes need additional pinning and may have visible joint lines. We assess at the site visit.
